I am pleased to introduce and officially welcome Mrs. Christian Gracie to our Saint Noel Parish family! Since the beginning of August, if you have stopped in the parish office or called, chances are you have had the opportunity to meet her. For nearly a month, she and Erin sat side-by-side for a shared time of transition. Christian comes to us with twenty-two years of experience in parish administration. Her journey first began at Christ the King Parish, E. Cleveland, and then expanded to include St. Philomena Parish, E. Cleveland. Ultimately, collaboration between these two communities (along with St. Ann and St. Louis in Cleveland Heights) led to the merger of these four parishes in 2010, now known as Communion of Saints Parish, Cleveland Heights, of which Christian was at the helm.
Prior to this historical merger, she was greatly involved in social concerns and community outreach in East Cleveland. To her regret, this involvement took a back seat to the demand of administrative duties. Upon hire, she has been delighted to have experienced for herself, and already been a part of, our food pantry, produce distribution, and monthly Neighbor to Neighbor Meal (at which she was present her very first day!) Due to her experience in diocesan parish life, Christian has already remade connections with parishioners she had previously known.
Even before being offered the position, Christian joined us for Mass, sharing: “The first time I worshiped here I felt a peace that I had not experienced in a long time. I am excited for the opportunity to work with staff and parishioners alike, and everyone who turns to Saint Noel in their time of need.
“I often reflect on 1 Corinthians 14:33, ‘For God is not the author of confusion but of peace.’ I pray that through my words and actions I may be a beacon of peace and hope to those most in need.”
To the shared time ahead, welcome!
Fr. Terry
