THE WEDNESDAY REPORT: September 14, 2022

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Happy Holy Cross Day! Today marks seven months with you (and I assure you I'm happier about it than this photo suggests!). Thank you all for everything you do.

Nothing lengthy this edition, just three notes of interest for you...

EXTENDED REHEARSALS BEGIN TOMORROW

Between the concert and Christmas, we're going to need as much quality rehearsal time as we can get, so: starting tomorrow, rehearsals will run 7:00-9:00, extending by 30 minutes. We'll rehearse weekend music first, then pivot to concert pieces; anyone not taking part in the concert will be able to leave at that time.

BISHOP WOOST VISITS OCTOBER 16

Our newly-minted Auxilliary Bishop, Michael Woost, will be joining us as presider for the 11:00 Mass on October 16. I'd like to make this a full-choir Mass if we can! The music selections already made for that weekend will stay put, nothing out of the norm to prepare.

REHEARSAL NOTES: SEPTEMBER 15

Be sure to check your folder for new music: "Hear Our Prayer," "Gift of Finest Wheat"

  • Each week, we'll warm up with the handout I gave you earlier. If you need a copy, let me know.
  • MASS OF SMM: Harmonizing Holy, Mystery of Faith, and Amen; Sing through Lamb of God.
  • SEP 18: Psalm, The Cry of the Poor; Your Words Are Spirit and Life.
  • SEP 25: Psalm 146: Praise the Lord, My Soul!
  • GAUDETE: Start work on "O Nata Lux;" Continue "Dancing Day," "Take Comfort"

Gathering Song: MI 429 · JS 620 · All the Earth (Deiss)

Responsorial Psalm: WA · 2.009 · Ps 146: Praise the Lord, My Soul! (Cosas) This is from the concert that Christian, Luke, and I did at SPB in 2017. It's really echo-ey but it's a good performance nonetheless! Christian is the cantor here.

Communion: MI 329 · 3.033 · Gift of Finest Wheat (Kreutz, arr. Keil)
