Dear Partners in Ministry,
Perhaps you might have noticed a familiar but surprising name among the presenters for this year's GIFT (Generations in Faith Together) series...
I'm very happy to confirm that Janèt Sullivan Whitaker is indeed coming to visit! Several of her liturgical compositions have become beloved standards here, including ”In Every Age,” “Here At This Table,” “Christ before Us,” and “To God be Praise and Glory” (the setting of the Song of Exodus that we added to our Easter Vigil rep this year). She was also among the most profound and prophetic voices of the composers I interviewed for my GIFT session last January. Finally, she's a wonderful and faith-filled person who I'm proud to call a sister and friend.
I don't have a lot of detail to share at the moment, but the tentative plan is a three-day visit— February 21–23— including GIFT, a Thursday night Music Ministry retreat, and a concert on Friday. I'll keep you updated as these plans develop, but for now, I hope you're as excited as I am to bring Janèt to our parish home.
