THE WEDNESDAY REPORT: October 9, 2024

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Well, if you weren't convinced as of yet that Fall has arrived, I think it's pretty certain now! That autumnal sweater-weather nip is in the air, and we're just starting to see those first pops of color in the trees (the photo this week is the view from my office window). I've just added selections for the first of our November Masses below, and hope to have Advent music ready for you by this time next week. Meanwhile, string and trumpet scores for October 19/20 went out yesterday; Sunday's BlueWater Chamber Orchestra concert was a smash hit; and we still have our next Concert Series event (Wit's Folly, Oct 19) and our first visit from CityMusic Chamber Orchestra (Oct 25) to go before we finish out this month. (Whew!)

Don't blink, but do read on...

Peace be with you,
Tony

LECTORS

Lectors Needed for Gaudete Concert

I would love to include three to five of you wonderful lectors in this year's Gaudete! concert on December 15. Ideally, these lectors would not be Music Ministry members (to spread the love around a bit, and to keep from overworking anyone). If you're available and interested, please let me know. Thanks!

Lector Workbooks

Thanks to everyone who has claimed their copy of the 2025 Lector Workbook. There are still a few of you who haven't; please stop by the Parish Office to pick yours up as soon as you're able.

MUSIC MINISTRY

Rehearsal/Concert Accompanist Needed

I spoke with Matt earlier today, who has decided to step away from Music Ministry for the time being due to the craziness that ensues when the kids reach high school. Matt, thank you for a short but wonderful contribution to this ministry, and know that we'll keep a seat open for you if time and life allows.

This does mean that we need to find an accompanist for rehearsals and our Gaudete! concert this December. I've posted the following with a few local colleges and the Diocese, but if you know anyone who might fit the bill, please pass this on immediately. I hope to have someone at the piano bench next Thursday!

---

Saint Noel Parish in Willoughby Hills is in immediate need of a rehearsal and concert accompanist as we prepare for our annual Gaudete! Concert on Sunday, December 15. Commitment to advance preparation and attendance at all seven Thursday night rehearsals, a final rehearsal on Dec 14, and the concert on Dec 15 (~13 total hours); excellent sight-reading skills; and ability to work well with musicians of varied ages and levels of musical training is required. The Parish Choir is an all-volunteer ensemble of around 40 singers whose welcoming spirit, solid work ethic, and appreciation for their fellow ministers is a genuine delight! For more information or to apply, please contact Tony Ward, Director of Music (440-946-0887, tward@stnoel.org).

Rehearsal Tracks for "E'en So, Lord Jesus"

Pam Pelley was kind enough to create rehearsal tracks for you for "E'en So, Lord Jesus, Quickly Come." (Thank you, Pam!) Each part's recording features their separate part highlighted by a wind instrument. While I hope to have Cantamus tracks available, this will get us going with pitches and rhythms. (Files will be attached to the Wednesday Report email).

A reminder that tomorrow night is a cantor rehearsal night. We'll address psalms for Oct 13 through Nov 24.
