THE WEDNESDAY REPORT: November 6, 2024

Dear Partners in Ministry,

As many of you know, I've been keeping a running count of the days since I began my time in service with you at Saint Noel; today is Day 996. Each one of those days, regardless of its light or shadow, has been a gift that I treasure. For two reasons—between knowing and feeling the tension and anxiety our nation is dealing with, and knowing how great a gap many of us feel in our hearts as we remember and celebrate Camille Schroeck, I know that the rain is far from the only source of shadows for us today.

There are so many reasons why each of us love being a part of this faith community, but I think it's safe to say that one of the most prevalent reasons is the sincere and sustained commitment this community has shown to offer love, peace, welcome, support, compassion, and strength to one another. No matter how you may have voted, how heavy-hearted you may or may not find yourself right now, I'm calling on myself and all of us to do what we clearly do best: love one another. Give somebody a hug. Tell a dumb joke (I have many dad jokes available to use as needed). Hold a door open. Cause a miracle in Cleveland and let someone into your lane. Let our hearts and hands continue to be Christ in this world, rooted in love over all, and fortified by knowing that

Neither death, nor life,
nor angels, nor principalities,
nor present things, nor future things,
nor powers, nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature will be able to separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
—Romans 8:38–39

Peace be with you,

Tony

Funeral Mass for Camille Schroeck

This Saturday, we celebrate the funeral Mass for Camille Schroeck, whose years of service and friendship have been such a remarkable gift to all of us in this community. If you knew Camille at all, it should come as no surprise that she had her wishes perfectly organized, and that her most fervent request was that "I would like everyone to sing!"
