Dear Partners in Ministry,
An early Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! This is, of course, a significant weekend for the parish, as we celebrate gratitude tomorrow and greet a new liturgical year with the dawn of Advent.
News for all of you, along with notes for Altar Servers, Lectors, and Music Ministry.
Peace be with you,
Tony
NEWS
Thanksgiving Day Mass Tomorrow at 9:00 a
A reminder and an invitation to start your day around God's table this Thanksgiving as we celebrate Mass at 9:00 a. The campus (except for the Pantry) will then close until Saturday.
Music Ministry will meet 20 minutes before Mass; please do a little warming up on your own in the car (which will prove entertaining to your fellow drivers).
Setting Up Parish Text Messages
Last week, I sent the cancellation notice for choir rehearsal via text through MSP; from the response I got, we need to do a better job of informing the parish that this is an option! If you would like to receive texts for important alerts, cancellations, etc. (and we are very carteful about when and what we text— we don't like our phones buzzing us a zillion times a day either!), please log in to both Breeze and MSP and add your cell number to your profiles.
Altar Servers · Your Breaking Bread Books
Servers, it's so great to see you coming up the aisle singing with the assembly; what a terrific example you're setting! From now on, though, there will be six labeled books in the sacristy for you to use instead of grabbing a copy from the back pews. Please use these copies from now on and remember to bring them back with you to the sacristy after Mass. Thanks! This will help us keep more books available for everyone every Sunday.
Lectors · Christmas Availability Reminder
Lectors, I sent an email over the weekend asking about your availability for our Christmas Eve/Day Masses. There is a poll attached; please reply by Sunday, December 1 if you'd like to be considered for these Masses.
Music Ministry · Music Selections; No Rehearsal; Please Keep Working!; Music Turn-In
Music selections have been set for the Sundays of Ordinary Time leading up to Lent (January 19–March 2). You'll find the link at the bottom of this post. I've also added selections to the Advent/Christmas sheets for our hastily assembled Holy Day— the Immaculate Conception— on Monday, December 9.
There will be no Music Ministry rehearsals tomorrow (of course), but please continue working after the holiday to help us be fully prepared for the Gaudete! concert and all our liturgies.
Finally, I'll have the turn-in box out from tomorrow morning through our December 5 rehearsal for any music you need to turn in.
DO NOT TURN IN any of these pieces, however, as you'll need them at some point before January:
- 1.001 · Mass of Creation
- 2.013 · Psalm 98 Complete (Ward)
- 3.059 · I Received the Living God
- 3.080 · Taste and See (Moore)
- 3.081 · Here At This Table
- 4.012 · Emmanuel
- 5.100 · Advent and Christmas Hymns
- 5.015 · O Tidings
- Any piece for the Gaudete! concert (Christmas Day; E'en So, Lord; Rejoice! Rejoice; Unexpected and Mysterious)
- Any piece marked TEMP; if its discard date has passed, please recycle it.
Some of these pieces will be handed out after the holiday weekend. If you're still missing any of these pieces after December 5, just let a librarian (Kathy S, Sr. Kathleen, Karen F) know.
