THE WEDNESDAY REPORT

March 9, 2022: Tags, Tracks, and... Killer Plants?

UPDATED MARCH 11

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Thank you for a wonderful start to our Lenten Season (it’s been a week already?!). The feedback I’ve received from staff and parishioners has been so uplifting. In particular, they’re elated to see more and more of you back in the choir seats on the weekends! Thanks too to our 5 pm crew for being so flexible in welcoming Keira to our family of faith. She and her family are so happy to begin this journey and your love and support is such a gift to them, and to our whole parish.

Scrutinies Begin March 19

Speaking of Keira’s journey: the three Lenten Scrutinies begin next Saturday, March 19, and continue March 26 and April 2. The readings and propers will be from Year A instead of Year C for the 5pm only these weekends; while this changes the Psalms, the rest of the music will remain the same. So: for the 5pm Mass those weeks, your psalms are:

March 19: [JS 72] Ps 95: If Today You Hear His Voice (Farrell)

March 26: [CP 449] Ps 23: Shepherd Me, O God (Haugen)

April 2: [JS 108] Ps 130: With the Lord There Is Mercy (Modlin)

Rehearsals 7pm–9pm March 10–April 7

Starting tomorrow, and for the duration of Lent, we’ll expand rehearsals to two hours (with a break in the middle). My plan is to focus on weekend music for the first hour, then switch gears to Triduum music for hour two. If you are not planning on singing during the Triduum, feel free to leave at break, unless you’d like to rehearse the music for fun!

JourneySongs Inventory

A reminder that I need to know where your copy of JourneySongs Choral is (or whether you need a new one) by Friday so I can place any needed orders. As of this morning, I’ve heard from 24 of you; if you haven’t already, please take the quick survey and let me know: https://forms.gle/3aXJAKinqaztFmZ46

Choral Pieces for the Triduum

Good Friday: Seven Last Words of the Prince of Peace, Alan Hommerding/Tony Ward

Easter Vigil: Three Days, THAXTED, M.D. Ridge

Support our Bell Choir at Handbell Ringers of America: Rock Roll & Ring

Several members of the St. Noel Adult Handbell Choir will be participating in this unique Spring Festival March 18-19, 2022 at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel.  This is the first time this group has hosted an event in Cleveland, we are honored that our very own Elke White is a member of the Handbell Ringers of America and enrolled our Handbell Choir to participate over a year ago. The Raleigh Ringers will perform a concert on Friday night (tickets $20 each) and all participants will play in a final concert Saturday evening which is open to the public.  All COVID protocols will be in place the entire event including proof of vaccination and wearing masks. Additional information can be found at https://area5.handbellmusicians.org/spring-festival-2022-cleveland-ohio/. Please consider joining us for the final concert on Saturday, March 19at 5:00pm.

Come See My Son as Seymour!

My son, Ian, is Seymour in Beachwood High’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors” this weekend! Shows are Friday 7 pm, Saturday 1 pm and 6 pm, and Sunday 12 pm. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at https://www.beachwoodschools.org/Tickets.aspx; Beachwood High School is located on Richmond, just south of Fairmount Blvd.

Name Tags

I’ve put together name tags for all of you, which I’d like you to wear for a little while. This will not only help me, but help those who are new to our ministry. We'll have markers ready; please add your first name and section. Thank you!
