THE WEDNESDAY REPORT: March 27, 2024

Dear Partners in Ministry,

We're just hours away from Holy Thursday Morning Prayer and the start of the Triduum. If last night's brilliant rehearsal was any indication of how things are gonna go this year, this will be an amazing three days. Thank you again for all your hard work, all your patience, all your care and concern, all your dedication, and all your faith... I'm so proud of you all and can't wait to begin these celebrations with you!

HOLY THURSDAY: NOTES

instrumentalists arrive by 6:00 to set up and tune
vocalists arrive by 6:10 to settle in and prepare
Warmups and rehearsal begin at 6:15 for the 7:00 Mass.

A reminder that adoration will follow the Mass until we begin Night Prayer at 10:00 pm. All are welcome to stay and pray.

GOOD FRIDAY: NOTES

instrumentalists arrive by 2:15 to set up and tune
vocalists arrive by 2:25 to settle in and prepare
Warmups and rehearsal begin at 2:30 for the 3:00 liturgy.

For the Adoration of the Cross: After the Solemn Intercessions, Fr. Terry and Dcn. Dave will make their way to the narthex to begin the procession of the Cross. Once they are ready, I'll begin improvising on "Behold the Wood;" this is your cue to begin making your way to the back of the church (Communion-style). Once the Cross has been raised three times and as it is being placed at the foot of the altar, make your way up the center aisle and stop at the front pews. I'll begin singing the full version of "Behold the Wood." After Fr. T and Dcn D venerate the Cross, you are free to make your way forward and venerate.

EASTER VIGIL: NOTES

instrumentalists arrive by 7:15 to set up and tune
vocalists arrive by 7:25 to settle in and prepare
Warmups and rehearsal begin at 7:30 for the 8:30 Mass.

A box of taper candles for Music Ministry will be available in the choir area. Please do not take candles from the bowl in the narthex.

Please take part in the Service of Light (outside/narthex) if you're at all able. Since you don't need to worry about the Exultet, feel free to blend in with the assembly; just make your way back to the choir area via the center aisle along with the crowd.

EASTER SUNDAY: NOTES

instrumentalists arrive 45 minutes ahead to set up and tune
vocalists arrive 35 minutes ahead to settle in and prepare
Warmups and rehearsal begin 30 minutes before each Mass.

Important note re: "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today:" unfortunately, the lyrics of this hymn in Breaking Bread do not match up with the lyrics you have in JourneySongs. (Grrr.) SO: I'll create a handout with the same SATB arrangement and their version of the lyrics for Sunday. This does not affect the Vigil, as the lyrics in the worship aid match up.
