THE WEDNESDAY REPORT: March 20, 2024

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Eight days to go! Thank you for all the hard work you've been putting in at rehearsal and on your own.

Lots to get to, so, here we go...

PALM SUNDAY NOTES

Just a few notes and reminders for the coming weekend:

The Commemoration and Blessing of Palms will move to the front entrance of the church this year. I strongly encourage any of you who can do so to join the assembly and help them sing as we process back in.

For the Procession: we'll sing only the refrain as we're making our way inside. Once we all have arrived in the choir area, I'll signal us to move into the verses; we'll sing as many as needed to round out the procession.

We hear Mark's account of the Passion this year. One lector will be stationed at the cantor stand.

We conclude in sacred silence. Please do your part to help maintain that silence as we pack up and leave after Mass.

FIRST COMMUNION: April 14

Our First Communicants will all be present for the 11 am Mass on April 14, so we're making the 11 our livestreamed liturgy that weekend. I'd like to make this an "all-choir" Mass, so if you are at all able to join us at that time, please do so. It'll be wonderful to share your full-force awesomeness with our young guests of honor!

TOMORROW NIGHT: HOLY THURSDAY/GOOD FRIDAY; MUSIC TURN-IN

With the exception of the psalm, we're not going to revisit Palm Sunday tomorrow, but concentrate on rep for the first two celebrations of the Triduum. It's also time to lighten our load a bit, so we'll turn in several pieces from February and Lent in the narthex (see below). We will visit our two Triduum choral pieces too, so be sure to have them on hand.

TUESDAY NIGHT: EASTER VIGIL/SUNDAY

Tuesday night's rehearsal (7p-9p) focuses on music for Easter Vigil and Sunday. We'll start by practicing all the music common to both days and specific to Sunday, then turn our focus to Vigil rep, particularly psalms. Psalmists, be ready to sing your respective verses, please.
