Dear Partners in Ministry,
Welcome to Summer (at least, in the liturgical sense)! Despite a lull in our rehearsal schedule, things will be hopping in Music Ministry in the next few months, from a long-overdue cleanup and organization to a new Mass setting you'll help choose.
ORDINARY TIME RETURNS
A reminder that we start our summer stretch of Ordinary Time this weekend. Be sure to check out the bottom of this post for music selections, especially what we're singing for acclamations.
SUMMER SCHEDULE
HOLDING OFF ON A GATHERING
Due to lack of availability and energy for a June 16 gathering, let's cancel that plan and aim for a social gathering to kick off the fall.
WEEKENDS
We will not rehearse on Thursdays for the next two months and change, but we do need to prepare for our liturgies... so let's commit to starting our preparations 30 minutes before Mass. To do this, we need everyone arrived and settled in by that time. If we're able to keep this schedule, we can do a brief warmup and have the time we need to make sure we're ready.
MIDSUMMER REHEARSAL
We'll meet up on Thursday, July 14 at 7 pm to prepare for the second half of summer and learn the Mass setting we've chosen. Not mandatory, but please plan to attend if you're able.
IT'S TIME! HELP ME CHOOSE OUR NEXT MASS SETTING(S)
I've uploaded the first of four surveys for you and the entire parish as a way to choose the next Mass setting we add to our repertoire. Please chime in on the Gospel Acclamations for our five candidates by clicking here. I'll invite the whole parish to join this project over the weekend.
NEW PARISHIONER NIGHT
Several of you are either new to St. Noel or maybe have been here a while but were never formally welcomed due to COVID. We're inviting you to a fun and informal night of welcome to your parish home on Wednesday, June 22 at 7 pm! See this weekend's bulletin for more information.
SUMMER PSALMS: A SAMPLE...
I finally found a moment when I was free and no one was weed whacking the courtyard to record four of my psalms for the summer!
- Psalm 8: How Great Your Name (this weekend)
- Psalm 15: He Who Does Justice (July 17)
- Psalm 66: Let All the Earth (July 3)
- Psalm 90: If Today (July 31)
Two more of mine are coming in August; I'll work to record those before the end of June.
