THE WEDNESDAY REPORT: February 8, 2023

Dear Partners in Ministry,

First of all, thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered for the absolutely fabulous experience we shared with Andrew Sords and his amazingly talented colleagues! They loved you and thoroughly enjoyed performing here... as has every artist we've welcomed this season. I have half of next season already booked, and it's already shaping up to be another outstanding group of concerts.

Lent must be around the corner— the first two liturgies of the season are listed at the bottom of this post! Tomorrow night, we'll get going with our music for Lent and the Triduum, which leads me to my next point:

I'm happy to announce our choral selections for this year's Triduum celebrations! Here are links to each piece; we'll get a first look at these together tomorrow night.

HOLY THURSDAY: Ubi Caritas, Bob Hurd, 1996. This is a congregational piece right out of JourneySongs (776) but also a well-crafted SATB piece for this first night's reflection. Eventually, I hope that this piece will be a regular and beloved addition to our parish worship.

GOOD FRIDAY: O vos omnes, Pablo Casals, 1942. This Spanish-born composer was a fierce opponent of political oppression, refusing to perform in Germany, Italy, and even his native Spain in protest of these three regimes during World War II. O vos omnes was composed in the height of the war in Europe, and stands as a revered vignette of the sorrow and terror shared by so many.

EASTER VIGIL: Alleluia, Ralph Manuel, 1987. This heartfelt and gentle setting of "Alleluia" has charmed audiences for nearly forty years, and was one of my first experiences of choral music as a high schooler.
