Dear Partners in Ministry,
Happy Lent! We're off to a beautiful start thanks to a wonderfully prayerful Ash Wednesday Mass this morning (and the promise of an equally fabulous Mass at 7 pm). We have a packed but powerful season planned for the parish, culminating in what I know will be a gorgeous Triduum.
NOTE: While writing this post, I accidentally deleted last week's post, which is irreversible. I plan on giving that mistake up for Lent.
Rite of Sending
Thanks to the 11 am crew for your part in welcoming our catechumens and candidates last weekend. Their journey takes them to the cathedral this weekend, but before then, we'll send them with our love and blessings.
Comparatively, the Rite of Sending is far simpler than the Rite of Acceptance. Just a few notes:
- The entire Rite takes place after the homily.
- The only musical piece is a little piano improv (I'm thinking "The Summons") as our catechumens sign the Book of the Elect.
- The intercessions are woven into the Rite, but our procedure and response stay the same.
- We will dismiss them after the intercessions and immediately begin the song for Prep of Gifts, "Shelter Me, O God," as they depart.
Triduum Updates
While I didn't come close to my goals of finishing the Easter Season this weekend, I am committed to getting all lectors and cantors for Triduum wrapped up by Friday. Stay tuned...
Save the Date: March 31
I would love to have as many of you as possible join me on Friday, March 31 for a Taizé service "around the cross." Taizé prayer services are wonderfully spiritual experiences, and with the Parish Choir leading it, it can't help but be exquisite. More information to come!
REHEARSAL NOTES: February 23
