Dear Parishioner,

Each year as the holidays approach, we at St. Noel engage in a large Christmas project of providing food and gifts for those who are in financial need. Last year, we were able to assist over 100 families in Lake and Cuyahoga Counties. This year, we will also provide support to families connected to Forbes House of Lake County (which serves families coping with domestic violence) and Birthright.

Our Youth Ministry coordinates this Christmas project. Members of our youth group will be collecting money for this project after Masses the weekends of December

2 nd & 3 rd and December 9 th & 10 th . But there is a way that you and your family can become personally involved. I am inviting you to sponsor a family. This allows you to shop, wrap and, if you would like, deliver Christmas gifts to a specific family who has asked for assistance. Such an effort allows for personal contact between people. It could be an excellent way for parents and children to serve together as part of the preparation for Confirmation and First Communion.

I am also asking you to consider donating a turkey. Many stores provide certificates for turkeys during the holiday season. If you receive extra ones, it would be a real help to us if you could redeem the certificate and bring the turkey to us. We have made room in our Banquet Center to store the turkeys until Christmas. We need boxes to wrap clothing items, tissue paper, wrapping paper, tape and gift bags. (We do not need bows.)

As part of our GIFT program, families have an opportunity to decorate and fill a box with non-perishable food and paper products. You can bring the boxes to our next GIFT session or simply bring them to the Church anytime. This is a real need considering the number of families who could use our help.

There are many families struggling financially during this holiday season. Your willingness to provide food and gifts to them is one excellent way to make the good news of God's love more obvious in our world.

If you have any questions regarding the Christmas project or would like to help, please call Anthony at 440-946-1128, ext. 20.

REMINDER – On November 14 th , we will need any bulletin articles for the weeks of November 19 th and 26 th .  Both of these bulletins need to go to the printer on November 16 th .

PRAYER LIST UPDATING – We are aware of the valuable ministry provided by the community's prayers for those whose names appear on our prayer list every week in this bulletin. Because of the passing of time and also because of the large number of names which appear on the list, we have lost touch with the status of many people. We are asking that you notify us by November 27 th if you would like us to continue with putting your name (or the name of your friend or loved one) on the list. As of the weekend of December 2 nd & 3 rd , 2006 we will only be publishing those names received or renewed by November 27 th . Please know that we are willing to place a name on the list any time but feel it is important that we periodically update the list so we can truly pray for those most in need of our support.

REMINDER - If you ordered At Home With the Word it is ready for pick up in the parish office .

HOSPITALITY – We are in need of volunteers at the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Mass to help set up and serve coffee and donuts. You will be scheduled once a month. CITYMUSIC CLEVELAND CONCERT AT ST. NOEL - On Friday, December 8 th at 8:00 p.m. CityMusic Cleveland will offer a concert in our church including works by Ravel, Fauré, Berlioz and others. CityMusic Cleveland is a full chamber orchestra conducted by James Gaffigan, the associate conductor of The San Francisco Symphony. It was founded in 2004 in an effort to bring high quality music to neighborhoods throughout greater Cleveland. The concerts are free, although donations to support CityMusic are always welcome. We are proud to have been chosen as a regular sight for City Music because of our location and the excellent acoustics of our church. You can find more about City Music on their website: citymusiccleveland.org.

SOLIDARITY IN ACTION: During the first GIFT session this year, we explored the Catholic Social Teaching of Solidarity. On Friday, November 17 th at 6:30 p.m., you can put faith into action. The Social Justice Ministry is hosting another Loaves and Letters event. After sharing a simple meal, we'll learn about pending immigration legislation within the state of Ohio. We'll also see how that legislation stacks up against Catholic Social Teaching. We'll learn what our bishops have to say, then we'll write our own letters. We have an opportunity to write those elected last Tuesday, but who'll not be entering office until January. As always, the food is FREE, a letter is your fee. We will gather in the Banquet Center/Small Hall. Sign up on the kiosk, or call the office.

HELP BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY – SUPPORT CCHD. Today 37 million Americans struggle in poverty, many despite working full-time. We can make a difference by supporting the work of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). For two generations, the bishops of the United States have given us this concrete, tangible way to become signs of hope and put our faith into action. CCHD gives poor and low-income people an opportunity to help themselves, and one another, to break the bonds and cycle of poverty. Please give generously to the CCHD appeal next weekend. Visit the kiosk or www.povertyusa.org to learn more.
