Dear Parishioner,
One
week from this Tuesday, November 2 nd , we will celebrate the Feast
of All Souls. This is a yearly feast on which we join with fellow
Catholics throughout the world to remember those who have died.
Our faith tells us that death does not end our relationships with
those we love. Rather, all of us, living and dead are united in
Christ and destined for eternal joy.
In
a special way we will remember all who have died from our parish
during the last year: Michael
Shantery, Genevieve Bohinc, Fred Perovshek, William Janis, Eleanor
Lombardo, Dorothy Durnwald, William Koeth, Virginia Ortman, Veronika
Blechertas, Jane Kinn, Lawrence
Fiebig, Joseph Sidoti, Jeannette Jilek, Patsy Lombardo, Ann Planicka,
Madeline Burgston, Laura Bergantino, Margaret Garrett,
Veronica Frantz, Carol La Puma, Charles Davey, Ray Dietz, Jerry
Copley, Bridget Morgan Vanderbilt, Esther Morris, John Legan, Mark
Wallace Patterson, Josephine Cierebiej, Charles Gorman, David Meholic,
Ruth Gorman, Mark Negrelli, Louise
Powalie, Marilyn Kane, Anthony Siciliano, Emery Lewis, Betty Fiediga,
Mary Misheck, William Banduh, Gary
Benek, Rachel Reda, Michael DiCillo, and Guenter Ludwig
If
you would like any deceased members of your family to be remembered
at our liturgy, we ask that you place their names on the special
envelope, which was included in your last quarterly mailing (additional
envelopes are in the kiosk). No monetary offering is required. These
envelopes will be brought forward during the gift procession.
We
believe that the Church gives glory to God through the lives of
those who live here on earth and all of those who have entered eternal
life. Please join us on November 2 nd to give thanks to God for
life here and hereafter.

George Smiga

INACTIVE
CATHOLICS & REASONS WHY #5 –
Some
people were hurt in some way by Catholics and have not been reconciled.
Insensitivity, a difficult experience, disillusionment with the
behavior of a Catholic layperson, religious or clergy that went
so deep that initially healing was impossible. However, now the
person may be ready to face the situation and the Church again.
What we can do! Listen with the love of
Christ. Your simple listening, your gentle apology on behalf of
the Church, is part of the reconciling ministry of Christ. That
moment, where you are an instrument of grace, can result in the
person moving closer to the Catholic community. “WELCOME
WEEKEND” is next week!!!
“WELCOME”
WISDOM & GOSPEL RESPONSE
This
week's Gospel reminds
us of the virtue of humility. Humility will call
all people to consider the fact that religion is not a private thing.
We are members of the Body of Christ and we have a stake in one
another. Therefore, we have an obligation to assist in seeking reconciliation
with inactive Catholics. Respond to the Gospel
challenge! Invite all who have
been distant for any reason from the Catholic
Community … Invite and accompany them to:

FAITHFUL
CITIZENSHIP – Every
four years our Bishops issue a document entitled “Faithful Citizenship”
which addresses the Catholic perspective on the elections and public
policy. Here is this week's quote from that document: “All believers
are called to faithful citizenship to become informed, active and
responsible participants in the political process”. Politics in
this election year and beyond should be about an old idea with new
power-the common good. How can “we” all of us, especially the weak
and vulnerable, be better off in the years ahead? How can we pursue
greater justice and peace? Using our voices and votes we
should strive to defend all life, advance justice, pursue peace
and find a place at the table for All God's children.
