Dear
Parishioner,
In
our lives, we have all experienced the wonderful presence of a compassionate
listener and a conversation that moved beyond the ordinary to explore
the depths of what truly makes us human. For many, their
supportive network of family & friends requires only a simple
phone call or a short walk down the street to begin this type of
conversation. Within our community of St. Noel, countless
people minister to one another daily and bring the healing touch
of Jesus to those who are hurting. This is our call.
The
Stephen Ministry of St. Noel Parish trains committed men and women
to be compassionate listeners for others. Through ongoing
supervision, Stephen Ministers strive to learn more about themselves
in order to be more effective in their relationships with others.
Stephen Ministry provides a confidential, structured setting
where ordinary people gain the confidence to do extraordinary things
in the name of Christ Jesus. Our Stephen Ministers
of St. Noel have walked the journey with hundreds of people over
the past 20 years. Currently, the group is led by Sharon
Waltermire, Fran Armbruster and Anthony Camino.
Recently,
we trained 8 new members for the Stephen Ministry, and now have
a wonderful group of parishioners available to walk with you or
a loved one during a difficult time. Stephen Ministers have
journeyed with people dealing with grief, unemployment, surgery,
an extended illness, family problems, parents and/or children, and
more. Whenever life becomes difficult, even for a short time,
a Stephen Minister can be a welcome companion.
Christians
must minister to others - outside of our immediate circles as well
as within. Stephen Ministry offers one model that really
works. If you believe a Stephen Minister might be right for
you or someone you care about, please call Anthony Camino (946-1128
x 20) to discuss your need. A caring and compassionate friend
could be just a phone call away.

CAMPAIGN
MATERIALS -
As election Tuesday approaches, each
of us will be deluged with literature, propaganda and sample voting
guides. Please know that St. Noel Church does not permit anyone
or any group to place flyers on cars in our parking lot, and if
this should happen, please know that it is being done without our
permission. We want the information you receive from
the parish to be informed, balanced, accurate and in line with our
status as a private, non-profit organization. We are making
available to you two publications from the Cleveland Catholic Diocese
that addresses our responsibilities and concerns as Catholic voters. One
is a “Candidate Survey,” the other is “Faithful Citizenship . .
. A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility Questions for the
2006 Election Year.” Both can be found on the table in the narthex.
Please read and reflect on these publications as you prepare to
vote.
WORLD
MISSION SUNDAY
is being celebrated next weekend, October 21 st & 22 nd .
Our ushers will be in the narthex after Masses to accept your donation
which are collected for a common fund of solidarity distributed
in the Pope's name, by the Society for the
Propagation
of the Faith, among the Missions and missionaries of the world.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
REMINDER

you ordered At Home With the Word it is ready for pick

help at the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Mass to help set up and serve
coffee and donuts. You will be scheduled once a month. If you can
help, please call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
FOR
THE ILL AND HOMEBOUND
– Don't forget that we have Eucharist Ministers available to bring
Communion to those unable to worship with us. This can be
a short term or long term need. Ministers are willing to schedule
visits at a time convenient for all. Please call the parish
office at 440-946-0887 to make arrangements. We want to be
sure that all of our parishioners, sick and well, have an opportunity
to pray with one another and to receive Communion.
INTERFAITH
WORSHIP SERVICE – Our
diocesan Interfaith Office has made us aware of an interfaith worship
service for peace being held at Antioch Baptist Church, 8869 Cedar

ST.
NOEL CONCERT SERIES
- On November 5 th at 4:00 p.m., the St. Noel Concert Series will
present a concert featuring the excellent soloists you may have
heard at our holiday liturgies. Pianist Bob Sterbank will
be joined by clarinetist Michael Elias, trumpeter Art Goldstein
and saxophonist Mark Sterbank for an afternoon of delightful instrumental
chamber music. We are especially pleased that Mark Sterbank,
who holds a degree from the Eastman School of Music and is a professor
at the University of South Carolina, will be able to join us for
this wonderful concert. It, too, is free of charge.
A free-will offering will be taken for Womankind of Greater Cleveland.
THANK
YOU FOR ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BLANKET SUNDAY!
Last weekend's St. Vincent de Paul Society Blanket Sunday collection
continued our parish's “warm” tradition of caring. The collection
totaled 40 blankets, 28 sets of sheets, 65 sets of towels, 1 miscellaneous
item, 50 coats, hats & gloves, and $947.00 in cash donations.
This collection “covers” many needs and many needy families and
children. Elderly and the homeless will receive essential items
for the winter months through the diocesan network of hunger centers,
shelters, community agencies and the SVDP charitable network in
our own metropolitan area. A sincere thank you to all parishioners
who assisted through their donations and prayers
FOOD
PANTRY NEWS – We are
very grateful for all your donations to our food pantry. Your
generosity is vital in this ministry and we will continue to need
your assistance in the future. But fortunately, through the
diligence and efforts of our food pantry workers, we were recently
able to secure $1300 in grants from the Cleveland Food Bank. With
these monies we were able to purchase some bins for potatoes, apples,
onions, and additional shelving for the pantry. However, the majority
portion of these funds will be used to purchase government foods
through the coming months.
FAMILY
SCRIPTURE STUDY – All
families are invited to join us for a “family-friendly” look at
next weekend's Gospel. Plan to attend either the 9:00 or 11:00 Mass
on Sunday, October 22 nd and join us in the Banquet Center/small
hall from 10:15-11:00 (between Masses). Along with other families
we will explore and share the Sunday Gospel. Reservations are not
necessary. Just grab a donut and come on in!!
