Dear
Parishioner,
One
of the most important ministries in our parish involves our high
school youth. As we all know, the teenage years are a challenging
and sometimes confusing transition from childhood to adult living.
It is important for our parish to be present to young people during
adolescence to give both guidance and encouragement. At St. Noel
we provide this presence through our Prime Time Youth Group and
our parish GIFT program. In this upcoming year, Prime Time will
minister to our young people through weekly Sunday gatherings, annual
retreats, summertime service trips, liturgical training and social
events such as our recent bonfire.
All
of these activities are supported through your weekly offertory
donations and through a number of fundraising efforts. One of these
efforts will occur next week at the annual “Prime Time” clambake
on Sunday, October 15th from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. The meal, which
is $20.00 for adults ($5.00 without clams, and $5 for children),
includes one dozen clams, broth, chowder, one-half chicken, potatoes,
corn, rolls and peach pie. Extra clams are available at a minimal
cost. Tickets for the bake are on sale for this weekend after Mass,
or call Anthony (440-946-1128 x20), or the Banquet Center (440-946-6635).
Since
this is a fundraiser, please spread the word to your family and
friends or even better, organize a table to participate. Please
support this effort which provides such a valuable ministry to our
parish.

Noel on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars
for this special event. The concert
is free, although donations to the mission of City Music are always
welcome.
HOSPITALITY
– We are in need of
help at the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Mass to help set up and serve
coffee and donuts. You will be scheduled once a month. If you can
help, please call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
HEALING
MININSTRY – Jesus desires
each of us to be well in body, mind and spirit. Come . . . be touched
by His love this Wednesday at the 6:45 p.m. evening liturgy. Experience
God's healing through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
during Mass. Be comforted and refreshed by Jesus in the Eucharist.
Prayer teams will be available to pray with you if you wish.
FOR
THE ILL AND HOMEBOUND
– Don't forget that we have Eucharist Ministers available to bring
Communion to those unable to worship with us. This can be
a short term or long term need. Ministers are willing to schedule
visits at a time convenient for all. Please call the parish
office at 440-946-0887 to make arrangements. We want to be
sure that all of our parishioners, sick and well, have an opportunity
to pray with one another and to receive Communion.
VOTER
REGISTRATION – As Catholic
Christians our bishops encourage us to participate in the political
life of our communities by voting. Materials for registering
to vote, whether you are registering for the first time, have changed
your address, or have married and have a new name, are available
on the table in the Narthex. The deadline for registering
is October 10, 2006 if you wish to vote in the November election.
Materials for requesting an absentee ballot are also available.
PANTRY
HELPERS NEEDED - Because
of the increased activity in our food pantry we are in need of one
or two more people to help with receiving shelving foods and filling
orders. Our hours of operation are Monday and Thursday mornings
from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to serve clients.
Food is received one or two Tuesday afternoons a month from the
Cleveland Food Bank. If you have questions or think you might
like to minister to those who are hungry, please call Alice at 440-946-0887.
FOOD
PANTRY NEWS – We are
very grateful for all your donations to our food pantry. Your
generosity is vital in this ministry and we will continue to need
your assistance in the future. But fortunately, through the
diligence and efforts of our food pantry workers, we were recently
able to secure $1,300 in grants from the Cleveland Food Bank. With
these monies we were able to purchase some bins for potatoes, apples,
onions, and additional shelving for the pantry. However, the majority
portion of these funds will be used to purchase government foods
through the coming months.
