Dear Parishioner,

Our parish property, just as any home, requires constant maintenance. You might notice a few small projects in process around the grounds this weekend. First after waiting many weeks the entrance to our driveway has been resurfaced. This area was disturbed this spring when a new main water valve had to be installed for the property. The area required weeks to settle and the asphalt company had to work this small project into their schedule. The job is now completed – thank you for your patience.

Secondly the lawn area between the church and offices has been re-seeded. Our landscaper had been working without success for most of the summer to bring the lawn back after a disease had attacked it in the spring. We finally concluded that the only solution was to re-seed. That has been done and the grass is growing.

Finally the lawn area at the entrance to the lower level at the North end of the building has been replaced with a new drain and gravel. We were finding that in heavy rains the lawn was hindering the flow of water. Moreover the main drain for the downspouts at the northwest corner of the parking area had become blocked. The drain has been opened and a concrete swale is being installed to avoid this problem in the future.

These necessary repairs will assure that the integrity of our parish plant is protected. Thank you as always for your regular contributions to our parish. It is your stewardship which makes all of this work possible.

Fr. George Smiga
