Dear
Parishioner,
Thank
you to all those who made our summer Vacation Bible School Program
a great success. The program took place last week (July 17-21) and
we used Gospel Light's VBS program. During the week 150 children
met on SonTreasure Island where they learned about God's love. Each
day kids visited various areas such as Bible Story Time (where Granny
Frannie, Jack Sparrow and friends shared scripture), and Interest
Builders (where Trusting Telula Hula and her sisters helped write
love letters in the sand). At the “snack shack” everyone made (and
tasted) tropical delights and at crafts they created keepsakes including
a “message in a bottle.” Everyday the VBS kids saw skits and practiced
music. They worked off some energy at recess. Our mission project
this year helped Womankind. All the kids brought in packages of
diapers that will help serve the young women and their newborns
assisted by this agency.
In
keeping with the “island” theme kids and volunteers took a field
trip Wednesday afternoon to Fairport Harbor Beach (not an island
but lots of sand!). On Friday evening, all the families gathered
on SonTreasure Island for a meal, highlights of the week, and a
closing musical.
Vacation
Bible School is one of the most exciting ministerial efforts of
our year, and it would not be possible without the cooperation of
over 90 volunteers which included a large number of parents, grandparents,
and 44 youth volunteers listed below.

CLUSTERING
NEWS
How
are we going to get there? Parishes
have been directed to follow a process of forming an ad-hoc Parish
Subcommittee to Discern Proposals for Cluster Partners. Here
at St. Noel this task has been assigned to our Parish Pastoral Council
and Staff. Over the past two years, through prayer and discernment
(discernment is a disciplined and honest attempt to discover God's
will) this group has reviewed criteria to consider background information
of other parishes, as well as St. Noel's parish surveys, and has
met with members of other Pastoral Councils who are potential Cluster
Partners. St. Noel leadership is prepared to propose Cluster partners
with rationales based on the criteria provided by the Diocese and
submit a “Proposal of Cluster Partners Form” to the Diocese by October
1, 2006.
