Dear Parishioner,
Each year
we try to schedule a day on which we can gather for a parish picnic.
This year we are trying something new. A committee of parishioners
has been working with Marc Weagraff over the last few months to
design an event with a different twist.
Today,
I am happy to invite you to the “St. Noel Party in the Park,” an
afternoon of games, food, and music through which our parish can
celebrate our connection to each other. The day is Sunday, August
15 th . We will gather beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Campbell Park (behind
Willoughby Hills City Hall). There will be games for all ages, a
make-your-own-craft table, a 50/50 raffle, a pie baking contest,
and a Chinese auction with great prizes from the Lake County Captains,
Gavi's Restaurant. Gales Garden Center and many more. At 5:00 p.m.
the meal begins. We will provide hot dogs, burgers and drinks. We
ask you to bring your favorite dish to share. At 6:00 p.m. a live
band will perform. The group is called “His Divine Creation.” It
is a jazz gospel ensemble which will move your heart to sing.
The
Party in the Park is an exciting mixture of picnic, band concert
and country fair. It is for all members of our parish and their
families and friends. It is a wonderful opportunity to spend a day
with members of your faith community.
So grab your lawn chairs and a covered dish and join us on August
15 th to celebrate the joys of summer with the people of St. Noel.
Fr.
George Smiga

JustFaith
- What is the responsibility
of Catholic Christians toward those who are poor? How do we
become people who really care for and act on behalf of those who
are vulnerable? This fall, a new program called JustFaith
will be offered for the first time in our parish. The program
is designed to empower and transform participants so that they can
become voices for the voiceless and agents of God's good news to
those who are oppressed or in need. Be ready for a challenging
but exciting thirty weeks! We will begin with an afternoon
for reflection led by Fr. George on the Social Justice themes of
the Scriptures on Sunday September 12 th . Please note that
EVERYONE, whether you plan on being a part of the JustFaith course
or not, is invited to this event. Then the actual JustFaith
course will begin on Sunday September 26 th and continue through
Sunday, May 15 th . We will gather on these Sunday evenings
from 6 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a fee for materials and
books which is yet to be determined. Please call Alice at
the parish office 440-946-0887 should you have questions.

that have arisen out of the experiences of those who struggle to

We will examine how these insights invite us into a deeper spirituality
of solidarity with our brothers and sisters, thus leading us to
a richer relationship with God. Our facilitator and guide for the
evening will be Chris Janezic, religion teacher at Villa Angela/St.
Joseph High School and leader of our delegation to El Salvador.
