Dear Parishioner,
Next
weekend we will have our annual missionary appeal at all of our
weekend liturgies. We have again asked Joe Cistone from International
Partners in Mission to speak after communion.
IPM
helps us sponsor our partnership with the Women in Community in
El Salvador. But IPM has missionary outreach to people throughout
the world. Everyone who has followed the news is aware of the continuing
crisis in Africa especial in the Darfur Region. We have asked Joe
to address the issues of poverty and violence in Africa and to apply
your contributions to IPM's efforts in Africa. You may donate to
this missionary appeal in one of three ways: (1) any loose cash
in next week's collection, (2) ushers will be in the narthex after
the liturgies to accept any offering, or (3) place a donation in
next week's collection marked “missionary” (all checks should be
made out to St. Noel).
There is no part
of the world which is excluded from the love of God and therefore
from our care and concern. The missionary appeal reminds us of our
world-wide responsibility. Please be generous next weekend

FLOWERS
FOR ST. NOEL
– For several years a series of parishioners have undertaken the
task of planting and watering
annual flowers around the St. Noel sign at the entrance to our property.
The parish underwrites the cost of the planting. But the need is
to provide regular watering of the plants. Since there is no access
to water at the street the water must be transported from the church
building. If anyone would like to undertake this service to enhance
our entrance, please call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
OUTDOOR
MASS – we
will have Mass in our outdoor chapel (weather permitting) on Tuesday,
July 12 th at 8:45 a.m.
THE
ROSARY which
is said on the third Tuesday evening of the month at 7:00 p.m. will
be canceled for the months of July and August . Since attendance
is very low during the months that we do say the Rosary, in September
there will be a meeting to see if we should continue meeting on
Tuesday evenings to say the Rosary.
HEALING
MINISTRY - While on
earth, Jesus healed all who sought His help. Now from heaven, He
continues to send His healing love to help us in our hours of pain,
loneliness, sorrow and illness. This Wednesday during the 6:45 p.m.
liturgy, we will celebrate this Sacrament of the Anointing of the
Sick. Come and experience the healing love of Jesus. After Mass,
prayer teams will be available to pray with you for your special
needs. The heavier the cross, the more we need His help up Calvary's
Hill.
USHERS/GREETERS
are needed at the 9:00 a.m. Mass .
Anyone interested in being an usher/greeter at the 9:00 a.m. Mass
please call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
HOSPITALITY
– We are in need of
help at the 11:00 a.m. Mass to serve coffee and donuts and help
clean up. You will be scheduled once a month. If you can help, please
call the parish office at 440-946-0887.

websites, addresses and phone numbers of additional resources and
prayers for the situation there. You may especially want to
check out www.SaveDarfur.org

JustFaith
- What is the responsibility
of Catholic Christians toward those who are poor? How do we
become people who really care for and act on behalf of those who
are vulnerable? This fall, a program called JustFaith will
be offered in our parish. The program is designed to empower
and transform participants so that they can become voices for the
voiceless and agents of God's good news to those who are oppressed
or in need. Be ready for a challenging but exciting thirty
weeks!
The
actual JustFaith course will begin on Sunday September 18 th and
continue through Sunday, May 7 th . We will gather on these
Sunday evenings from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Please call Alice at the
parish office 440-946-0887 should you have questions. Information
and registration meetings will be held on Saturday, August 27 th
, at 6:15 p.m.; Sunday, August 28 th at 12:15 p.m.; and Thursday,
September 1 st , at 7:30 p.m.
AUGUST
ANNIVERSARY SHOWER
- Next month we will be celebrating 25 years of God's blessings
upon our community and indeed we have been abundantly blessed over
the years. In honor of our
anniversary our Social Concerns Commission is presenting us with
an opportunity to BE a blessing for others. The Diocesan Migration
and Refugee office is in need of a number of items (linens, dishes,
small appliances, etc.) for families who are currently arriving
from Africa, Turkey and other parts of the world and setting up
households. On the weekend of July 30 & 31 you will be
able to pick up a card in the Narthex labeled with a particular
item that you can purchase and then return on August 20 or 21.
Along with the gift card you can also
receive a prayer card for refugees and a flier explaining other
ways to serve those coming to our country. You may
recall our past involvement with the refugee ministry when we actually
sponsored families. While we have not currently been assigned
one particular family to help resettle, this remains an opportunity
to live out the Gospel call to welcome the stranger by assisting
a number of families. We hope you will be able to participate
in this August Anniversary Shower! Questions? Call the
parish office at 440-946-0887.
SOCIAL
JUSTICE GEM
- Picture a gigantic supertanker crossing the ocean while towing
a humongous floating balloon carrying part of Lake Erie! Very
few of the world's thirsty people will be able to buy this water.
With
available fresh water equaling less than ½ of 1% of all the
water on earth, corporations are excited as water becomes more valuable
than oil!
While
more than a billion people on earth already lack access to clean
fresh drinking water, 90% of the world's fresh water goes to inefficient
industrial agriculture and the tech industries where massive supplies
of pure water are needed to produce silicon chips. (Bigelow &
Peterson, Rethinking Globalization)
Today's
first reading from Isaiah describes the rain and snow coming from
heaven to water the earth and bring forth bread for the people.
Aware that the earth is a fragile gift, the U. S. bishops in 1998
added care for God's creation as a theme of Catholic social teaching.
The
JustFaith curriculum explores this and other environmental effects
of globalization. Join the discussion at St. Noel this September
on Sunday evenings.
THE
ELIZABETH MINISTRY'S “ELIZABETH'S ROSES”
- will be available in the narthex following all Masses this weekend.
Designed to identify, pray for, and support the needs of women and
their families during the childbearing years, parishioners are invited
to select a rosebud from the display and indicate a particular need
relating to pregnancy, birth, adoption, fertility or loss. Elizabeth
ministers will pray daily for the families represented, and if requested,
will contact the family in order to provide continued support. Prayer
cards will be available for personal meditation. For further information
on the Elizabeth Ministry, visit the parish website at www.stnoel.org,
and click on “Caring Ministries.”
“LETTUCE”
GO TO THE GARDEN
– The miracle garden at St. Augustine has been planted and will
be bountiful. Come and help us weed, cultivate, and then harvest.
If you are interested in joining us on a Saturday morning at 9:00
a.m. call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
CHILDREN'S
LITURGY OF THE WORD will
not meet during the months of July and August; however, beginning
in September, CLW will be offered at all three masses, (5:00 on
Saturday, 9:00 and 11:00 on Sunday) for children ages 6-9 years.
If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please call
Marianne Slattery at 440-946-1128 x 21.
ATTENTION
playroom volunteers and parents who use this service :
Due to low attendance and vacation schedules during the summer months,
the Playroom Volunteer Staff will not be scheduled to watch children
during the 9:00 a.m. Mass until September. We will resume a volunteer
babysitting schedule once the Preschool Program resumes in September.
Parents please know that you are always welcome to use the Playroom
during any Mass. There is a dial on the wall that will enable you
to listen to Mass while watching your child play. Please show respect
for the room by picking up the toys and turning off the lights when
you leave the room. Thank you for your support.
