Dear
Parishioner,
With
the summer months upon us I am sure that many of you are turning
to maintenance and repair jobs around your house. The same is true
for us here at St. Noel. As I previously mentioned we have repainted
the wall in our church which was damaged by leakage during the winter
and replaced the foundations of the lights along our entrance driveway.
In consultation with our Finance Committee we will also be patching
and sealing the parking lot this summer and replacing the cement
walkway in front of the building entrance between the church and
the Banquet Center. In the spring we will need to replace the carpeting
in the Banquet Center/large hall. The present carpet was installed
when the Banquet Center was built in 1987 and its usefulness cannot
be extended much further. We are also exploring replacing the siding
on the priest residence on SOM Center Rd. The present siding dates
to before the founding of the parish. It has begun to detach from
the house. The Finance Committee has directed me to ask our community
whether any parishioners are interested in bidding on the carpet
in the hall or on the siding for the priest residence. We certainly
have access to companies who could do these jobs well but would
prefer to offer the work to qualified parishioners. If you are interested
in bidding on these projects please call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
As
you can see, ongoing maintenance is a requirement of anyone who
is responsible for buildings. As our buildings age they will require
additional care. The Finance Committee has been careful to budget
these items according to our needs and means. But all of these efforts
depend upon your continuing support of our parish. I thank all of
you who have pledged to support St. Noel by your Sunday offering
and who have continued to honor these stewardship pledges. May I
ask you not to forget us during the summer. Even though you may
be gone on vacation or visiting other parishes for family events,
we still depend on your regular offering to support all our ministries,
salaries, maintenance, and landscaping. Your continuing support
is necessary so that all the efforts of our parish can proceed without
interruption.

CLUSTERING
NEWS
HOW
MANY PRIESTS ARE THERE? Today,
two thirds of the U.S. Dioceses have fewer priests than parishes.
The Cleveland Diocese has experienced a 27% decline in priests since
1970. Today we have 296 priests and 233 parishes. By 2020 we will
have only 189 priests. The good news is that God has led us safely
through priest shortages in the past. In 1880 the Cleveland Diocese
had only 137 priests and 199 parishes, but due to increased vocations
by 1940 we had 582 priests serving 258 parishes. So, let's
all pray for and encourage priestly vocations.

EL
SALVADOR DELEGATION
- On July 18 th our delegation (Vic DeMarco from Resurrection
parish; Anne DiFranco, Jim DiFranco, Alice Hinkel, Chris Janezic,
Umberto Ritossa, Fr. George Smiga, Mel and Jan Troha, all from St.
Noel) leaves for our eight day journey to El Salvador. We
will be visiting many sites and groups to learn from the El Salvadoran
people about their lives, their history and their faith which carried
them through the civil war and continues to support them today in
their struggles. We are especially looking forward to spending
time with “Mujer y Comunidad,” the women of Zaragoza with whom we
are partnering to assist them in their establishment of a small
sewing business. While in the town of Zaragoza, we will be
staying at COAR, the Community of Oscar A. Romero, which is an orphanage
begun by Fr. Ken Myers of Cleveland during the civil war.
As we visit the martyrdom sites of Bishop Romero, the four
Church women, and the six Jesuits, please know that we will remember
the intentions of all in our community. On Sunday, July 23
rd , we will be worshipping at St. Dominic Catholic Church with
Fr. Rob Reidy of our Diocese and the people of Chiltuipan. We ask
that you pray for us during our journey that we might know God's
protection and that we might be open to the Spirit's wisdom and
truth as we encounter the people of this beautiful but beleaguered
country. (See the next item for ways you can participate in
our pilgrimage.)
NEEDS

and by Mujer y Comunidad. We will be collecting the following
items in the Narthex on the weekend of July 1 st and 2 nd :
nonprescription drugs like Tylenol and antacids, vitamins, anti-itch
cream, low-dose Aspirin, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss,
magic markers, pens, pencils, glue, infant and toddler clothing,
vegetable garden seeds. Call Alice at 440-946-0887 if you
