Dear
Parishioner,
For
the tenth consecutive year St. Noel is organizing a Junior High
Summer Day Camp called Camp YAC (Youth Acting for Christ). This
year Divine Word Parish is co-sponsoring this camp with us. The
purpose of Camp YAC is to celebrate the tremendous gift Junior High
youth are to our faith communities. Camp activities are designed
to build confidence, model Gospel values, and create a fun environment.
This
year's camp will include: carnival games, service projects, water
sports, cook-outs, field trips, physical challenges, Camp YAC shirts,
and much, much more!
We
will meet at both St. Noel and Divine Word Church during the week
of June 26 th -30 th . The times will be 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday
and 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday. A full schedule with maps, phone
numbers, participant list, etc. will be sent to each camper.
All
activities are adult-supervised. Transportation will be provided
by bus or adult chaperones.
The
cost of the camp is $75.00 per camper. Applications are available
in the kiosk. We could still use some adults to transport the campers
to the various activities. If you can help or if you have any questions
call Anthony Camino at 440-946-1128 x 20.
Camp
YAC provides an excellent summer opportunity for fun in a faith
context. I encourage the junior high members of our parish to participate
and become a Camp YACker.

CLUSTERING
NEWS
WHAT
IS CLUSTERING AND WHY IS IT NECESSARY? Clustering
is a group of two or more parishes with a combined minimum of 2000
households who form a long-term relationship of collaboration to
plan and provide pastoral care for their communities. Clustering
is a proven strategy being used in dioceses across the country when
faced with fewer priests and similar pastoral challenges. Clustering
is an approach that is consistent with what it means to be Church
and reflects the three guiding principles of the Vibrant Parish
Life initiative: communio (unity), subsidiarity (bottom up), and
collaboration (communication and suggestions) as the Body of Christ.
It provides an ongoing way to address the reality of continually
changing pastoral needs by those closest to each local situation.
This approach empowers people at the local level to have a voice
in collaborating to develop effective, creative, and long-term responses
to pastoral needs.
REMINDER
- the Noon
Mass on Friday, June 16 th will be in the outdoor Chapel (weather
permitting).
SUMMER
MASS SCHEDULE – From
June 21st through August 30 th there will
be no Wednesday evening 6:45 p.m. Mass . We
will, however, continue to have our monthly Mass with the
Anointing of the Sick on the second Wednesday of each month July
12th and August 9th.
HEALING
MINISTRY – Please join
us this Wednesday evening at our 6:45 p.m. liturgy for Eucharist
and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. You need not carry
heavy burdens or suffer alone, our community is here to support
you and pray for you. After Mass, prayer teams are available to
pray with you if you desire.
CATHOLIC
CHARITIES – Parishioners
of our parish and throughout the diocese have answered the call
of the 2006 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal to Help Your Neighbor
in Need . As of May 20 th , the Appeal has raised $5,889,176.00
towards it goal of $9.5 million dollars. Thank you for your continuing
support. This year Catholic Charities is striving for greater participation
from the many Catholic households in our diocese. A representative
of Catholic Charities will soon be calling parishioners who have
not yet responded to the Appeal to ask for their support. Contact
Karen Joyce at 800-869-6525, ext 1910 or kjoyce@dioceseofcleveland.org

EL
SALVADOR DELEGATION
- On July 18 th our delegation (Vic DeMarco from Resurrection
parish; Anne DiFranco, Jim DiFranco, Alice Hinkel, Chris Janezic,
Umberto Ritossa, Fr. George Smiga, Mel and Jan Troha, all from St.
Noel) leaves for our eight day journey to El Salvador. We
will be visiting many sites and groups to learn from the El Salvadoran
people about their lives, their history and their faith which carried
them through the civil war and continues to support them today in
their struggles. We are especially looking forward to spending
time with “Mujer y Comunidad,” the women of Zaragoza with whom we
are partnering to assist them in their establishment of a small
sewing business. While in the town of Zaragoza, we will be
staying at COAR, the Community of Oscar A. Romero, which is an orphanage
begun by Fr. Ken Myers of Cleveland during the civil war.
As we visit the martyrdom sites of Bishop Romero, the four
Church women, and the six Jesuits, please know that we will remember
the intentions of all in our community. On Sunday, July 23
rd , we will be worshipping at St. Dominic Catholic Church with
Fr. Rob Reidy of our Diocese and the people of Chiltuipan. We ask
that you pray for us during our journey that we might know God's
protection and that we might be open to the Spirit's wisdom and
truth as we encounter the people of this beautiful but beleaguered
country. (See the next item for ways you can participate in
our pilgrimage.)
NEEDS
IN EL SALVADOR – While
only nine of us are able to travel to El Salvador this summer, there
are a number of ways for any and all parishioners to participate
in our experience. Each of us will be able to take one suitcase
with various items needed by COAR, the parish clinic in Chiltuipan,
and by Mujer y Comunidad. We will be collecting the following
items in the Narthex on the weekend of July 1st and 2nd :
nonprescription drugs like Tylenol and antacids, vitamins,
anti-itch cream, low-dose Aspirin, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental
floss, magic markers, pens, pencils, glue, infant and toddler clothing,
vegetable garden seeds. Call Alice at 440-946-0887 if you
have any questions. Please remember that the most important
thing for us to take with us is your prayers for our delegation
and for the people of El Salvador!

LOAVES
AND LETTERS RETURNS – Ending
Global Poverty is the urgent issue we will write our Congressional
representatives and senators about on this Wednesday evening June
14th at 6:30 and next weekend - June 17th /18th - after all Masses.
A motivational video, prayer and food/refreshments will be provided
– and a fun segment for children to write letters. Please visit
the engaging poster on global poverty currently on display in the
narthex.
Did
you know that more than 1.2 billion people currently live below
the international poverty line, earning less than $1 per day? Or
that 842 million people across the world are hungry – they cannot
afford to meet their most basic need for food? Yet, we can make
a difference! To keep our promises, the U.S. should be providing
an additional $5 billion a year in poverty-focused development assistance,
help which is focused primarily on programs that reduce hunger,
poverty, and disease in the world's poorest countries. Fulfilling
the mission of Jesus, let's together encourage our government to
keep its promises to the world's hungry and poor. See www.bread.org/learn/global-hunger-issues
. Join us this week for Loaves and Letters!
EUCHARISTIC
ADORATION
– Are you free periodically on Mondays for one hour between
1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.? Vacation time is approaching and there will
be times when someone will be unable to fulfill their commitment
of one hour before the Blessed Sacrament. We are in need of some
individuals who would be willing to fill in occasionally as a substitute
for Eucharistic Adoration. Please call the Parish Office at 440-946-0887
for more information.
