Dear Parishioner,
It's
late one evening and you are sitting around after dinner with some
friends. Someone says, “I heard St. Noel was holding a lecture on
The DaVinci Code, do you know anything about it?”
You don't, but you would like to find out if it is true. What could
you do? You could scour around your home desk or the back seat of
your car trying to locate an old bulletin which could include
a notice of such an event. You could call other parishioners and
ask whether they might know something about it. You could
wait until the next morning and call the parish office which would
provide you with the information. All of these approaches could
work. But, hey guy, it's the new millennium! Why not turn on your
computer and go to”stnoel.org”. There you could click onto “Adult
Enrichment” which would take you to “The Adult Enrichment Calendar”
where you would find that Dr. Joseph Kelly will be speaking at St.
Noel about The Da Vinci Code (July 11 at 12:15 p.m.).
Our parish website is a tremendous source of useful information.
You can find a copy of the weekly bulletin, my homilies going back
to 2003, you can submit questions to the parish staff, and read
minutes of our Parish Pastoral Council. You can even find what music
we are planning to use at this week's liturgy.
The
website is run by members of St. Noel. It is a constant challenge
to keep it current. (So please be patient if you find a page with
old information.) Our website will also link you to other useful
sites. If you follow it to the “Diocese of Cleveland” website you
can gain information regarding diocesan events. A helpful
page on this site is the one called “For The Record.” It tries to
present fuller information regarding issues reported in the papers
such as The Plain Dealer. Presently
on the site the diocese gives its position on giving communion to
political candidates, whether the diocese's income is declining
and its reported reluctance to close churches.
In
short our parish website can be an important tool in your desire
to stay active and informed as a Catholic. I would like to thank
all of our parishioners who give of their time to keep it running,
encourage any parishioners who feel they can help to do so, and
invite us all to use the website often.

OFFICES will be closed

SUMMER
MASS SCHEDULE – Each
year during the summer, our attendance at the 6:45 p.m. Mass on
Wednesdays drops dramatically. Therefore, as last year, we are suspending
Wednesday evening liturgies from June 16 th through August
25 th . We will, however, continue to have our monthly
Mass with the Anointing of the Sick on the second Wednesday
of each month July 14th and August
11th.
SIGNED
LITURGY- On Sunday,
June 6 Mary Smith will be joining us to sign the 11:00 a.m. Mass
for the hearing impaired. Reserved seating can be found in the first
two rows of chairs by the Eucharist Chapel.
OUTDOOR
CHAPEL – is in need
of clean-up and repairs. You can help at your own pace and according
to your own schedule. If you are able to assist in preparing the
Chapel for summer use, please call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
SOCIAL
JUSTICE GEMS –“Parish
communities must show by their deeds of love and justice that the
Gospel they proclaim is fulfilled in their actions. This tradition
is not empty theory; it challenges our priorities as a nation, our
choices as a Church, and our values as parishes. It has led the
Church to stand with the poor and vulnerable against the strong
and powerful. It brings occasional controversy and conflict, but
it also brings life and vitality to the People of God. It is a sign
of our faithfulness of the Gospel” (U.S. Catholic Bishops, Communities
of Salt and Light ).
RCIA
INQUIRY – Are you, or
is someone you know interested in exploring the Catholic faith?
If so, please join us on Tuesday evening, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. in
the Resurrection Room for our next inquiry session. Bring your questions
and concerns which we welcome and will try to address. For more
information, you can call Alice at 440-946-0887 or Marianne at 440-946-1128
X 20.
MEDICAL
INFORMATION ACT – As
of April 14, 2003, the Federal Law entitled the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act went into effect.
This law seeks to safeguard the privacy of individuals regarding
health care matters. In the past, most hospitals and health care
institutions would contact a patient's parish when they were admitted.
Unfortunately, hospitals are no longer able to provide this service.
If you would like us to be present to you when you or someone in
your family is hospitalized, it is now necessary for you to give
us a call to notify us of your situation. In that way we hope to
be able to meet your spiritual need for prayer, pastoral visit,
and the sacraments.

this weekend, please consider if you might like to contribute toward
the rest of our need. You can make your donation as a memorial if
you like. It soon will be time to return our borrowed bells, so
please contact Marc at 440-946-0887 if you would like to help St.
Noel purchase our own third octave of handbells, Thank you for your
generosity and again thank you to the communities of St. Lucy and
St. Felicitas for allowing us to use their equipment.
