Dear Parishioner,
Four
years ago St. Noel, together with several other parishes in our
diocese, moved the celebration of Confirmation to coincide with
First Communion. In this way, the Sacraments of Confirmation and
Eucharist, which mark initiation into the Church, could be celebrated
together. Since our parish previously celebrated Confirmation in
the junior or senior year of high school, we are presently in the
process of preparing all of the young people of our parish who have
not yet been confirmed to celebrate the sacrament. This Friday,
May 7 th , Bishop Roger Gries will preside at the celebration of
Confirmation for 73 young people in grades 5-12 together with 1
adult. Like last year, the large number of Confirmandi required
scheduling a special liturgy instead of celebrating the sacrament
as part of our regular weekend Masses. Yet, even though the celebration
will be limited to those to be confirmed and their families, Confirmation
remains a parish celebration. I have listed the names of those being
confirmed below. Please include them in your prayers as they complete
their initiation into the Catholic faith.

parishes that are leaders in this area see social ministry not as

They weave the Catholic social mission into every aspect of parish

or neglected” (U.S. Catholic Bishops, Communities of Salt and
Light).

follow Christ very closely in the priesthood and religious life,
and for those whom he in his mercy continues to call to such important
ecclesial service.” May God bless those who shepherd our Church
with health, peace, and wisdom. May many more hear the call to priesthood,
deaconate, and consecrated religious life. For more information
