Dear
Parishioner,
As
our community continues to grow, we discover new ways of serving
others. What is especially revealing is when parishioners approach
our staff with their own ideas of how we can more fully place our
faith into action. Recently this has happened as some parishioners
recognized that a meal ministry could be the concrete love of Christ
to others.
Have
you ever been in a position in which a spouse or family member was
ill or maybe dying and for many reasons, stress, anxiety or lack
of time and energy found yourself unable to prepare meals for yourself
or family? Going back and forth to a hospital or nursing home during
a stressful illness is very draining, physically and emotionally
for the caretaker.
We
would like to begin a ministry through which members of our community
would be available to provide meals to families in such circumstances.
This ministry is not about long-term food service such as “meals
on wheels” – but intends to help people through specific – short
term crisis, such as a hospital stay or a death. We are looking
not only for those who would be willing to shop and cook but also
those who could assist in coordinating this ministry. If this ministry
is one in which you feel you could participate, there will be an
informational meeting on Monday, May 8 th at 7:00 p.m. in the Resurrection
Room. If you are unable to attend the meeting and wish to sign up
today, you can do so on the form on the kiosk. (Once the ministry
is organized we will let you know when we are ready to begin.)
As
in all our ministries, the success of this effort will depend on
the willingness of parishioners to give of their time and resources.
Please discern if you are called to participate. Feeding the hungry
is one of the specific requests Christ makes to his followers. He
teaches us that when we feed those in need, we are offering food
to Him.

COVER
FOR THE BOOK OF THE GOSPELS

Braun.

fellowship and prayer. As always we will enjoy a delicious breakfast.

May 9 th if you plan to attend. Please call the parish office at
440-946-0887 with any questions.
SPEAKING
OUT ON HEALTH CARE
– Our faith teaching tells us that everyone has the right to affordable,
quality health care. Right now, we have a unique opportunity to
tell our government what we think would make health care better.
The Citizens' Health Care Working Group, a commission created by
Congress, is currently surveying the public's opinions about health
care through an online survey and town hall meetings. The group
is mandated by law to report its findings to Congress and the President
this fall.
Until
May 15 th , you can make your voice heard here by answering the
health care poll, telling what matters most to you about health
care, and sharing your own experiences with the health care system.
Every voice counts! Go to: www.citizenshealthcare.gov/speak_out/tell_us.php
. When you've finished, please pass the word along to your friends
and family.
INTERESTED

A new group of inquirers into the Catholic faith is now gathering.

or deepening a relationship with Jesus in the context of the Catholic
tradition. Please call Alice at 440-946-0887 with any questions
or to register if you have not attended previous gatherings.

responses from candidates running for Governor as well as those
running for the Ohio General Assembly. We ask that you pick
up a survey off the table in the narthex and read the material in
order to cast an informed ballot on May 2 nd 2006.
WRESTLING
WITH THE SPIRIT :
“Why I Am Proud to Be a Catholic.” Join us at our next GIFT session
(Wednesday, May 3 or Sunday, May 7) as we come to appreciate our
reasons for being Catholic. Father George will lead the adult session
while families work together. Teens and preschoolers will have their
own breakout session. All groups will identify some key gifts of
the Catholic Church, why we are proud to be Catholics, and gain
confidence in sharing those reasons with others. REMEMBER . . .
you are not the only one who sometimes wrestles with the Church!
Together we can gain and share wisdom.
The
doors open for GIFT at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 12:15 p.m. on
Sunday. PLEASE REMEMBER , the Sunday session will
begin at 12:45 (15 minutes later than usual) because we will celebrate
the Sacrament of Confirmation at the 11:00 Mass.
BEING
GOOD STEWARDS OF OUR PARISH RESOURCES –Did
you know that a place is reserved and a meal prepared for every
person who registers for a GIFT session? Materials and supplies
are purchased based on that count, too. If for some reason your
plans change, please take the time to call 440-946-1128 x 21 to
let us know you won't be there. It really helps cut down on wasted
food and supplies. REMEMBER also, you can change your reservation
day with 24-hours notice .
