Dear Parishioner,

As all of you are aware, it would be impossible to function as a parish community without the ongoing financial stewardship of our parishioners. This is why we ask every household to examine the gifts which God has entrusted to you and to commit a part of those gifts to the support of St. Noel. Stewardship is not only financial. We depend upon gifts of people's time and talent as well. But it is only through a healthy response to financial stewardship that we are able to compensate our staff, pay our utilities, maintain our buildings, and reduce our debt. Our financial situation today is sound. This is because so many of you take your financial stewardship seriously.

Our Finance Council is charged to work with me in seeing that the funds which you entrust to St. Noel are used wisely. They also strive to keep you informed of the state of our finances and our upcoming needs . Over the past year the Finance Council has been overseeing our budget and cash flow on a monthly basis to detect any trends in income or expenses and to be prepared to respond quickly and effectively. The council has determined that our weekly collections should average $14,500 in order to meet our budgeted needs. Moreover, they wish to report to you more than once a year concerning the state of our income. Since many parishioners give monthly or quarterly a weekly reporting would not give an accurate picture of where we stand. Therefore, we plan to report to you every quarter. Since our fiscal year begins in July, we have already finished two quarters of this year. Our weekly collection from July to December 2006 amounted to $398,476. This is a weekly average of $14,758. You can see that so far this year we are exceeding our required weekly average of $14,500, but not by much. If our collections were to drop $285 a week we would not be able to meet our budget.

I am happy to report that we are doing well financially, but I must also remind you that your continued commitment to financial stewardship is essential. Every contribution is important. Through your generosity I am confident that we will continue to grow as a community and together proclaim the Gospel of Christ.

Fr. George Smiga
