Dear Parishioner,

In the summer of 2006 I was privileged to visit a parish in El Salvador which is staffed by a member of our Cleveland Mission Team. We saw first-hand the wonderful work they performed for the Gospel. Next weekend we will accept your donations after mass to support the El-Salvador-Latin American Missions. The collection is taken throughout the diocese to support our mission team of four priests and one sister who work in three parishes in El Salvador.

This appeal also makes a contribution to the Collection for the Church in Latin America that is managed by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and benefits projects and the formation of seminarians, religious and lay leader in 23 countries across Latin America.

In 2007, $155,578.00 was contributed to the El Salvador-Latin American Collection from 223 parishes of our diocese. The cost to maintain our Missionaries in El Salvador was $235,000. Our missionaries are the gift of the Diocese of Cleveland to the Church of El Salvador. Will you please continue to support this Missionary work through your contribution after Mass next weekend.

Fr. George Smiga
