Dear Parishioner,
Our
GIFT Program this week will center on love, not love as a feeling
but as an action. Using the upcoming feast of St. Valentine as a
focus we will discuss what is involved in a “Gospel Valentine.”
Christians celebrate Valentine's Day by making love a part of their
lives.
One
way to do this is to remember the most needy among us. At St. Noel
a group of dedicated volunteers operate
a food pantry to provide the most basic needs for those who request
assistance. Our pantry receives some food products from government
programs but these programs do not cover certain basic items which
every household requires.
Therefore,
we are asking parishioners to donate these items
next weekend when you come to liturgy. Of first need are paper products
such as toilet paper, Kleenex and paper towels. Bath and laundry
soap, toothpaste and cleaning products are also needed. Of course
our pantry will also accept any food products you may want to bring
(especially soups and pork & beans) but our special need is
for the paper products and soaps.
We
will have bins in the narthex next weekend, and I invite you to
donate any of these items as a small sign of putting your love into
action.
