Dear Parishioner,

Since 2002, St. Noel, together with several other parishes of our diocese, has celebrated the Initiation Sacraments in the order of the early church: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Because of this reordering, the children who will receive Communion for the first time this spring will also be confirmed at the same Liturgy. However, because Bishop Lennon desires one age for Confirmation throughout our diocese, next year we will begin celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation in the high school years.

At the 5:00 and 11:00 liturgies this weekend, those preparing for Confirmation and Communion will come forward and receive our prayers and support. We will encourage those preparing for Confirmation and Eucharist to participate in actions of love and service in the upcoming months and to follow the example of those in our community who make that love and service a regular part of their lives.

I encourage you to congratulate those who are blessed this Sunday and to share with them what your faith means to you. Please keep all of these candidates in your prayers. In this way, we can, as a community, help prepare these children to grow in their lives of service as Christ’s disciples.

                                                        Fr. George Smiga
