Dear Parishioner,

Every weekend we participate in the Eucharist. While we understand this celebration to commemorate the meal instituted by Christ, we don't always stop to think about what we are really celebrating. For Lent this year, our Scripture Study Series will be presented by Fr. Bob Marrone who will help us appreciate the Mass as prayer and ritual ... what we do and why we do it.

In three Mondays, March 10, 17, and 24, Fr. Marrone will explore the scriptural and historical basis for the Eucharist as well as provide the theological foundations to its structure. The sessions entitled "Liturgy as Symbolic, Enacted and Transformational" will meet in the basement of Willoughby Hills City Hall from 7:30-9:00 p.m., and all sessions will include time for the presentation of information as well as any questions people may have about the topic. A commentary will be available on March 10 for anyone interested in pursuing a study of the information between presentations. This resource will help those who want to meditate and reflect daily on suggested readings that pertain to the Eucharist.

Please consider joining us as we come to understand more deeply the roots and ritual of the meal we share every week.

Fr. George Smiga

A PRAYERFUL TOUR OF ST. NOEL CHURCH -

THE DOORS

And when they arrived, they called the church together and reported what God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
(Acts 14:27)

We will be entering our renovated worship space via all glass doors which will be set in glass encasements. The glass will allow more natural light to enter our church and provide much improved visibility of the liturgy for those spending time in the narthex because of crying or restless children or on those occasions such as Christmas or Easter when the church is filled to capacity. The handles on the central set of these glass doors are being designed and carved by Norbert Koehn from the same stone used throughout our church. These handles will depict the symbols of the four evangelists whose recording of the gospels has been so vital to the faith of the Christian community throughout the ages. It is the words of these four evangelists, lived out in a community of faith, that touch the hearts of catechumens and cause them to desire entrance into the church. May our doors always be open to them and all who believe.

"Matthew, Mark Luke and John, pray for us that the witness of our lives might provide a doorway to faith for all we meet."
