Liturgical Linens

Focus on Lu Collins

Lu Collins has been at St. Noel for about a year and a half and has been involved in this ministry most of that time.  She is on a schedule with about ten other people who pick up the altar linens on Sunday and return them clean and ironed on Monday or Tuesday.

These volunteers wash and iron all altar linens, baptism towels, and baptism pads and table cloth.  The volunteers are usually scheduled once every other month.  When the linens are returned they are placed in specific drawers in the Sacristy.  We need to follow the guidelines for pressing the linens so that Sacristans and altar servers are able to prepare the altar for each liturgy.

"God has led me to a wonderful parish filled with wonderful people!  I grew up learning and appreciating two different religions from my parents, Jewish mother and Catholic father.  I was never baptized or confirmed.  One day I realized I was ready for one faith and felt awkward to sit back while my son, daughter, and husband receive their communion." Lu decided to embrace the Catholic faith.

" I chose St. Noel because I always admired the church building in its secluded area and it is close by.  Thank God I met Alice Hinkel and she welcomed and made me feel so comfortable right away!   I was so proud and happy to be baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith last year, April, 2007 at St. Noel's."

Lu hopes that  St. Noel, our parish, continues to grow and stay as friendly and wonderful as it is now!  She appreciates life and all it holds more and is feeling a closer relationship with God.

Others involved in this ministry include: Connie Carr, Loretta Daws, Karen Franks, Eleanor Reilly, Nancy Fagan, Marge Kilroy (does the scheduling and training), Betty Bezik, Jan Delaney and Jan Troha.

We celebrate Lu Collins and her gifts and thank her for sharing them with our community. Want to learn more about the Liturgical Linens Ministry or any other ministry? Call the parish office at 440-946-0887.
