Focus on Barbara Painter

Barb Painter joined St. Noel in 1995.  Shortly after that she received a phone call requesting her to work in the office during the evenings.   It has evolved to become the 2nd, 4th & 5th Wednesday nights from 5:30 or 6 until 7:30 - 9 p.m. depending on what is going on in the church.  Coming right from her full time job, she enjoys the peaceful setting after a more stressful workday. In her day job she's totally responsible. But in this job she feels she can be more responsive to people without other responsibilities. "I really feel God's presence here so never feel afraid."

As the "face of St. Noel" to our evening visitors, Barb greets those who come in for meetings or may need the office equipment during a GIFT session, makes phone calls, answers the phone or does some filing.

"It's interesting to keep learning and to know what's going on in the parish.  As far as my hopes for this ministry; we'd like to have more committed people come into the ministry who have a real connection to the church."  It takes dedication to be faithful to a regular schedule as a volunteer.

Barb is also involved with social justice ministry and is discerning for the parish council. It means a lot to her to meet a variety of people in a variety of ministries.
